VIN on the GTV2000 and the s105

Postby eldiablo » Tue Jul 27, 2010 5:24 pm

y'all.

tried using the pm features on the forum but can't seem to send out mails, so thought i'd just blast it out.

am thinking of taking the plunge and getting a '73 gtv2000 (and yes, its THAT one).

qs:

1. is the chassis number / vin embossed, engraved or plated in w rivets?

2. where would it be located? on the driver's side a-pillar?

don't want to end up buying a donor car machined to match the numbers on the reg card.

any other input would be helpful.

tried, but the message disappears after i click 'submit' - doesn't appear in the sent or outbox folders. nvm, maybe my fingers are working faster than my brain.

i know i have one, see meng has one, tee has several, loki has one... even eldiablo gonna have one too...
you have one too-meh?? hahahaha....

see meng's rite. the vin - AR ####### is stamped on the bulkhead on the driver's side (RHD). This portion is slightly raised from the bulkhead.

On the passenger side of the same bulkhead is a riveted plate that tells you what model it is. For RHD like ours it's 105.45.

alternatively you can email ArchivioStorico@alfaromeo.com to give them the vin # and they'll come back with ori color, date of manufacture, model type, country sold in, etc...

Actually, Toe's 1750 is Tipo 105.45. For GTV2000, it's Tipo 105.22. Correct me if I'm wrong.
On later cars, it's no longer riveted plate. Mine's stamped (1973 1600 GTJ)
